Mrs. Quinn

Hi! My name is Shelby Quinn and I am so excited to be starting my 10th year at Union Elementary School.  I live in Berlin with my husband, John, and our two amazing children, Kennedy (6) and Calvin (4).We have two energetic dogs, Lexi and Wrigley, as well as four horses and a small herd of Belted Galloway cattle. I have lived in Vermont my whole life.  I grew up in central Vermont and attended Berlin Elementary School and U-32 High School.  I spent much of my childhood on the back of a horse and competed for many years.  At the age of 18, I began teaching horseback riding lessons.  Along with my passion for horses, I've always had an interest in farming.  In college, I studied Animal Science and graduated from UVM in 2003 with a B.S. in Animal Science.  I spent four years working as a Calf Manager on my family's farm in East Montpelier.  In 2008, I made the decision to return to school to pursue a Master's degree in Education.  I was fortunate to student teach at UES with Susan Koch in a first grade classroom.  I graduated from Union Institute and University in July 2010 and began my teaching journey that fall at UES.  I have enjoyed teaching both 2nd and 3rd grade.  Teaching is filled with countless opportunities and challenges and that's what I love about it!  I learn something new every single day. I am honored to be a teacher and thank you for sharing your children with me!
